Devotion- Proverbs 3:5-6

Good morning church family and friends. In all of my years of wandering around in this world I have learned that the many times I failed, errored, or gotten lost, is whenever I leaned to my own understanding. Is there anyone else who felt like you had it all figured out? Like, you just knew it all and couldn’t nobody tell you nothing? That was me, but I’m so glad that I learned how to leave the thinking to THE PROFESSIONAL; God who is the author and finisher of our life.

A guy once told me that he had a hard time receiving anything by faith. As I reflect upon that statement, I say to myself; I get it, it’s hard trusting in something you can’t see. The funny thing though, is that our reliance on the things we can see have let us down many of times. Like our cars, they break down all the time. We just flop down in chairs like they are incapable of collapsing. And when they do, what an embarrassing fall. So, what do you do? Well you do the same thing you would do when you’re on a plane flying above 30 thousand feet in the air; you try to relax and trust that the pilot knows what he is doing. Truth is, there is nothing else you can do, you’re life is basically in their hand in a manner of speaking.

Let’s spiritualize this: God is in control no matter what we do. At some point we are going to have to think outside of our own thoughts. We are going to have to surrender this idea that we know what we are doing and know where we are going. Let’s just admit that we are clueless. The heart is deceptive so we can’t always depend on our feelings. Even the people we know are misguiding, because just like us they are trying to figure out what God has already worked out. Proverbs 3:5-6 gives us the assurance that if we trust God wholeheartedly, don’t question Him, and recognize that He knows all the directions to life, He will get us to our destination.

Happy Travels with Jesus!
